Best Small Agency: breensmith

Breensmith won Best Small Agency for creating the song and video called “Keep on the Corporate Side” for Kabbage – a company that lends money to small business owners to help them chase their dreams. With less than 50K budget, breensmith created a top video that is still averaging 20k views per day with no paid media support. Pretty impressive if you ask me. #sadclown

Best on Instagram: 180LA

180LA won Best on Instagram for creating the #ThrowMeBack campaign for Expedia – in order to promote summer travel and grow their Instagram following.

Every Thursday, people who tagged their post with #ThrowMeBack would enter a chance to get thrown back to the place the original picture was taken and recreate the memory. With a small budget, 180LA created a campaign that received over 5 million impressions, 300K in total engagement and 5,000 submissions. From the 5K submissions, ten lucky winners were selected.

Best Mobile App: Big Spaceship

Big Spaceship won Best Mobile App for creating the Ken Burns, Definitive American History App for the iPad. Ken Burns is an American documentarian who directed 25 films that cover the most important events in American history.

Rather than creating a mobile library for his films, Big Spaceship built an app where small clips from all the films where placed on a timeline so that you could see his films through a different lens. The iPad app was an App Store Editor’s Choice and surpassed 150,000 downloads in the first month.

 

 

Most Creative Use of Technology – 360i, Olson Engage, Starcom MediaVest Group and Dirty Robber

This large group of creative agencies won Most Creative Use of Technology for creating the “Wake Up & Smell The Bacon” campaign for Kraft Foods/Oscar Mayer.

The results of the campaign was the creation of a device that would attach to your iPhone and send out the smell of cooked bacon in the morning. Accompanying this wonderful gadget was a downloadable alarm clock app that would sync with the device to give the smell and sounds of sizzling bacon. And of course there was a funny video that parodied the perfume ads we see all the time.

With only 5,000 devices available, you would have to enter the sweepstakes to win one of the gadgets. 300K people entered the contest, over 67,000 people downloaded the app and the whole campaign received over 520 million earned media impression. The power of bacon compels us…

 

Best in Financial Services & Best In Real Life Activation – Diamond Integrated Marketing

Diamond Integrated Marketing won two awards for their #TDThanksYou campaign for Toronto-Dominion Bank. TD Bank wanted to create a campaign/video to show different audiences how highly they regarded customer service and satisfaction. Thus, the #TDThanksYou video and “Automated Thanking Machine” was created.

The image of modern banking is cold and impersonal and the biggest symbol of today’s banks are ATMs. Diamond Marketing decided to leverage the way ATMs are perceived into something totally new and unexpected in the “Automated Thanking Machine.” By using TD’s deep knowledge for their customers, the new ATM was able to give loyal customers hyper-personal gifts of appreciation like baseball tickets or a plane ticket to see sick family members. To date, the #TDThanksYou video has been seen over 19 million times with over 460k shares within the first 72 hours shattering all projected benchmarks for the campaign. Have a box of tissues ready, cause this video is a tearjerker.

Best Contest or Promotion – Havas Worldwide Chicago

Havas Worldwide Chicago won Best Contest or Promotion for their #iamheretotakeyourjob contest. Individuals interesting in a summer internship with Havas created a video or post on Instagram challenging 12 current agency leaders by proving why they were better suited for their job.

This bold and edgy contest garnered over 800 Instagram post in 10 days and 133% increase in Instagram followers. 14 lucky winners were selected with half of them becoming full-time employees.
