Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

It’s been a great year for Agency Spotter! In addition to building the site, we have visited some great cities and met a lot of amazing people!

The excitement and anticipation for our public launch has been very encouraging, and we look forward to keeping everyone updated with our progress.

Here’s a quick snapshot of where we’ve been:

Austin, TX

SXSW Fun: Joseph with competitive eating champion Kobayashi

This year’s SXSW interactive festival was extraordinary! There were so many attendees waiting in lines for hours to grab a seat for hot panels, that you would have thought they were lining-up for tickets to Jay-Z. Oh wait, some people actually were! This was a year of big presence from big brands, such as Fed Ex with their human charging stations, Chevy giving free rides, and American Express wowing attendees with superstar Jay-Z. Even with all the big-name hype, there was plenty of start-up excitement from the ambient-location sharing app Highlight to the ever-popular Pinterest. One of the highlights for Agency Spotter was getting a chance to sit with start-up guru, Jacqui Chew (@jacquichew) and discuss how we can make a big impact on the agency search and selection process. We are really looking forward to next year’s festival!

Boston, MA

Boston continues to be a hotbed for start-up activity, offering countless options for networking, collaboration, and mentoring. We visited Venture Cafe where local start-ups come to meet and have “fresh and useful conversations.” Agency Spotter had a chance to participate in CommonAngels office hours and have an investment strategy one-on-one with Steve Willis. We also spent time with mentors Peter Russo and Ian Mashiter at Boston University’s Institute for Technology Entrepreneurship & Commercialization (ITEC) to get advice on how we can best reach our audience of agencies and businesses.

NYC

Quiet time in Startup Alley before the doors opened

One of the highlights of the summer for Agency Spotter was launching our Private Beta at TechCrunch Disrupt in New York City where we were part of Startup Alley. We were able to demo the site with hundreds of interested attendees and heard overwhelming support from agency folks, business marketers, and the investment community.

Atlanta, GA

Most recently, we hunkered-down for a marketing marathon planning session for our Public Beta Launch. And, we burned-the-midnight-oil to wrap-up site development building some really great experiences for all of you!
