What makes School of Thought unique?

School of Thought has a roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get things-done ethos and a critical thinking mindset. Our ideas thrill audiences and move the needle. But that doesn’t make us unique. The only thing that can really make an agency unique is the people. We’re a focused team of iconoclasts who like our work and clients, and find our own thrill in making a real difference to our clients’ businesses.

What advice would you give to someone who has never worked with an agency?

If you’re considering working with an agency for the first time, you’re poised for either a terrific or horrible experience, and it’s largely in your hands.

To be successful in an agency partnership, clients need only do a few things: (1) Know exactly how you’ll measure success, and state this clearly; (2) If you have a DIY culture and you’re skeptical that outsiders can really help you, then don’t hire an agency; (3) Trust your agency, but hold them to account. Give them the support and collaboration they need while making it clear that they’ll be measured against the success criteria you’ve established.

Agency-client relationships go south all the time, but they also go really well all the time. Over the years, we’ve had true collaborative, fun relationships with most of our clients.

If School of Thought had a mascot, what would it be and why?

Our mascot is Jacks, our Official Office Pooch.
