Meet the Digital Marketing Award Contenders
Best Real-Time Marketing Contender: Allen & Gerritsen for Dietz & Watson’s Laser Ham
It all started with an innocent tweet. Comedian Michael Ian Black mused about the existence of LaserHam to his 1.9 million Twitter followers.
Has anybody invented a laser that etches your face on a ham? It would be called LaserHam.
— Michael Ian Black (@michaelianblack) September 25, 2013
The Allen & Gerritsen team noticed the tweet, and after securing support from Dietz & Watson’s CMO, sprung into action. Less than 24-hours later, LaserHam was revealed
Hey @michaelianblack. You asked for it. You got it. LaserHam. And yes, it's real. http://t.co/7WbdS2LYYP

Best Interactive Ad Execution Contender: Crispin Porter + Bogusky for Domino’s Live
Throughout May 2014, Domino’s live-streamed the pizza-making process from one of the chain’s locations in Salt Lake City. Five cameras broadcasted 12 hours of live video every day. This campaign by full-service advertising agency CP+B was part of a larger effort to recast Domino’s as a maker of real, delicious pizza.
Best Native Advertising Campaign Contender: Razorfish for Mercedes-Benz‘s “Take the Wheel”
Working with Razorfish, Mercedes-Benz made a big push to reach Millennials on Instagram during the launch of the CLA, a model starting at $30,000. At the time, the app didn’t have any paid media options. So the digital agency identified five photographers with sizable followings (aka influencers) to spend five days driving and documenting their experience in the CLA. Each posted six photos a day on their Instagram account and the Mercedes-Benz Instagram account. The goal? To shed the adjective often associated with the German auto manufacturer: stuffy.
